With just under 30 presentations and also workshops and panel discussion the LSAC 2018 conference is nearly upon us (October 24th,25th). This year’s event has the theme of AI in Education while protecting privacy
Dr. McKay will discuss Equity in Education – Using Learning Analytics for Discovery, Exploration, and Experiment: Educational institutions hold equity as a central goal. Learning analytics can play a central role in achieving this goal. First, data are essential for probing equity. To provide an example, Tim will describe the discovery of a pattern of gendered performance differences in large foundational courses, both at Michigan and at an array of other Universities.
Ian Dolphin will discuss the case for Open Learning Analytics.
After the main event a two-day hackathon (October 24th,25th) will take place giving interested parties the opportunity to present and hack away at ideas such as the relationship between different LA related infrastructures, goal setting, job market intelligence, dashboarding, improving algorithms, Bring your own problems please.
